Dental check-ups in Kingston

Thames Street Dental offers examination appointments to review your teeth, gums and oral health before advising on any next steps.

Why have a dental check-up?

At Thames Street Dental, our goal is to maintain the best possible health for our patients’ teeth. To do this, we encourage all of our patients to have regular dental checkups or dental examinations. Amongst other things, these examinations allow us to check for early signs of gum disease, tooth decay and oral cancer.

Routine dental checks not only keep your mouth in great oral health, but they also dramatically reduce the need for (and cost of) dental work later in life.

What to expect

  1. 01

    Medical history

Your initial consultation will first involve you completing a Medical History Form. This will ensure you receive safe dental treatment catered to your medical conditions.

  2. 02

    Listening to your concerns

Your Dentist will review your Medical History Form and discuss any problems or worries you may have regarding your dental health.

  3. 03

    The examination

Perform an examination of the mouth to assess your teeth, gums and soft tissues, perform screening for oral cancer, and take X-Rays of your mouth if necessary.

  4. 04

    Your treatment plan

At the end of the consultation, the Dentist will give you a treatment plan, along with treatment fees associated with the recommended treatment, so that you will know in advance of each visit what treatments you will receive and how much it will cost.

How often should I go to the dentist?

For the majority of people it is advisable to see your Dentist for a routine examination every 6 months. This may vary if you are at higher/lower risks of certain dental diseases.

Common questions

Patients shouldn’t need X-rays every time they visit the Dentist. We recommend that each new patient has X-rays when they join Thames Street Dental, and then has another every few years. If your dentist feels that there is a reason to have more X-rays in between those periods, the Dentist will let you know.
